VEHICLE RELEASE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

 

If your vehicle was IMPOUNDED BY A POLICE DEPARTMENT, you must get a written release from that police department:

  1. Bring your release forms, ID and payment in to release the vehicle.
  2. Vehicles are released during office hours.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
  3. State law requires that vehicles be released to the registered owner or the person(s) shown was purchaser on the title or bill of sale.  If for some reason the registered owner is unavailable to personally retrieve the vehicle, the registered owner must send a copy of their driver’s license with written permission for another individual to pick up the vehicle.  Anyone picking up a vehicle must show state issued ID.  Written permission form
  4. We accept cash or debit cards (with pin input).  Payment must be made in person.  Telephone payment is not accepted. Fees can only be quoted during regular business hours.

 If your vehicle was IMPOUNDED FOR NOT HAVING INSURANCE:

  1. Obtain proof of insurance
  2. Go the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles and pay any applicable fines.  DMV will give you a form titled:  “Authorization to Release Vehicle”. 
  3. Take the “Authorization to Release Vehicle” to the police department that impounded the vehicle and get a release from them.
  4. Bring your release forms, ID and payment in to release the vehicle.
  5. Vehicles are released during office hours.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
  6. State law requires that vehicles be released to the registered owner or the person(s) shown was purchaser on the title or bill of sale.  If for some reason the registered owner is unavailable to personally retrieve the vehicle, the registered owner must send a copy of their driver’s license with written permission for another individual to pick up the vehicle.  Anyone picking up a vehicle must show state issued ID.  Written permission form

If your vehicle is stored because of an AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT, please communicate with us as soon as possible about your vehicle.  If an insurance company is handling your vehicle, you will want to remove your personal items (and your license plate if it is a total loss).  We are more than happy answer questions about the process of dealing with insurance companies.

If your vehicle has been towed from PRIVATE PROPERTY:

  1. Vehicles are released during office hours.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Special appointments may be made on Saturday during daylight hours.  A gate fee of $45.00 will be charged in addition the towing and storage fees when a vehicle is released outside of regular business hours.  Vehicles are NEVER released after dark.
  2. State law requires that vehicles be released to the registered owner or the person(s) shown was purchaser on the title or bill of sale.  If for some reason the registered owner is unavailable to personally retrieve the vehicle, the registered owner must send a copy of their driver’s license with written permission for another individual to pick up the vehicle.  Anyone picking up a vehicle must show state issued ID.  Written permission form
